The Ultimate Injeolmi Toast

Injeolmi is a Korean classic – it is mochi covered in bean powder. Bean powder might sound weird but it is slightly sweet and has a nice earthy flavor. In Korean dessert shops, they have injeolmi toast, which is the mochi in between two slices of bread with honey.

But I love to make everything I touch special 😉 Though this toast is already delicious, my recipe is the ultimate one that no store-bought one can compare to.

And it doesn’t require actual baking or anything from scratch, so you can give it a go easily! Also, I am offering two different types here – kaya flavor or peanut flavor. You can do either or both (like me) – up to you!

  • Ingredients:
    • 4 slices of white bread
    • 2 Tablespoons butter
    • 1 Tablespoon honey
    • a pack of frozen injeolmi
    • green kaya jam
    • crunchy peanut butter
    • bean powder

  • Recipe Steps:
    • melt the butter in the microwave and then mix in honey
    • use the honey butter to toast the bread slices in a pan
    • on one slice, spread green kaya jam
    • on another slice, spread peanut butter
    • place the frozen injeolmi over the spreads
    • cover both with the other slices of toasted bread and spread however much honey butter is left on it
    • air-fry at 180°C for about 8 minutes
    • sprinkle bean powder and serve!
